About Albukhary International University
Albukhary International University (AIU) is a private university located within the Sharifah Rokiah Science Center complex in Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Alor Star, Kedah. AIU's Executive Vice Chairman, Datuk Ismail Yusof stated that AIU took 500 first-time students from July 2010. 20% of the students come from abroad. The main target is smart students from disadvantaged communities especially from Asia and Africa. The university owned by Yayasan Albukhary has been operating since 2010 and is sponsored by a famous Malaysian businessman, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary. Yayasan Albukhary gives 100% scholarship to students admitted to AIU. They are temporarily placed in a public higher education institution while waiting for the AIU campus to be built in Alor Star, Kedah. The fields of study offered are information technology, business studies and social sciences.
